I wouldn't call it an idea, since it is so brief. (Below) "Ten year old Connie, an over-curious angel from Heaven, makes small miracles to encourage her elderly grandmother to live, meantime enlightening the lives of the unfortunate few, while searching for the meaning of life; Connie gains wisdom and outlooks of life through relationships with adults and peers, and grows emotionally during the process." This is just an thought for an story that's been buzzing around in my head for weeks now. I'm still trying to work out the conflict, creating a full storyline beginning to end. I'm thinking of making it an lyrical, poetic, dreamy novella gently told in the over-the-shoulder perspective (otherwise known as third-person point of view) meant for people between the ages of 10 and 13. In a way it reminds me of Newberry Medal book, Bridge to Terabithia, since it is imaginative and has a fuzzy warm feeling. Connie, I can imagine her in my head very well. She died weeks ago in an car crash when being hit by a car while riding her bicycle to school. With rosy cheeks, immense sea-blue eyes, with Shirley Temple's short ringlet hair ( http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://witchesbrewonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Shirley-Temple.bmp&imgrefurl=http://witchesbrewonline.com/tag/brewshyt/&usg=__Z0WLVRcQHeGBcOw2geF2rD2SXHs=&h=559&w=460&sz=754&hl=en&start=0&sig2=R3mhxxwk58pvgidioAHkUA&zoom=1&tbnid=RcwOJXk9MesCPM:&tbnh=167&tbnw=125&ei=pkJ8TPniD8GBlAeCxZHsCw&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dshirley%2Btemple%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1C1RNPN_enUS378US379%26biw%3D1024%26bih%3D507%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=264&vpy=103&dur=1922&hovh=248&hovw=204&tx=90&ty=136&oei=pkJ8TPniD8GBlAeCxZHsCw&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=11&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0 is an perfect example ) and a button nose with flaws, too, so she isn't a "Mary-Sue" (she is over-curious, meek, lack of assertiveness, too soft, absentminded and clumsy), and quiet to the point of portraying a child with schizophrenia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schizophren… if you don't know what that is ), though was too young to be diagnosed. I'm still working out the novel, if it isn't obvious enough already. Wondering if the outline I have is a bit...cliche. I hope to get it published someday. What inspired me to get such an idea was the 2007 Newberry Honor Children's book, Penny from Heaven. An honest opinion of the outline of my one-sentence synopsis would be nice (and tips on writing novels from the experienced writers?) I know I posted it a lot of times...I just wanted to hear opinions...since I am a bit curious...... Read More »
